Tom & Bec | Villa Kalyana, Koh Samui, Thailand
One of the most interesting things about being a wedding photographer is getting to know people. Sure, I knew Tom before he married Bec - funnily enough I knew him before he'd even met Bec - but I didn't KNOW him. For 10 years Tom was someone I saw as an exceptionally good mountain bike rider (he was Australian junior downhill champion as just one example); a good bloke with good mates who loved a good laugh. And then when he invited me over to Koh Samui to photograph his wedding to Bec I learned a whole new side to him. His dedication to Bec, as well as her passion to be with him was inspiring. They moved from Sydney to New York last year - and while I could tell as Tom spoke during the reception that it wasn't an easy move - their conviction to one another was what got them through. It's what has made them who they are as individuals and as a couple. It's what made them both realise "You know what? There's no one else in this world i'd prefer to share my life with"...and it's what brought all 37 of their guests to Thailand: to celebrate that.
Tom and Bec: thank you both so much for welcoming me into your lives and your families. For having me be a part of the incredible adventure that was your wedding, and is you two together. I'll be forever grateful, and forever inspired.
Tom and Bec were married at the beautiful Villa Kalyana Samui South Beach, Koh Samui, Thailand, and even though my linen shirt was soaked through just 5 minutes into the ceremony due to humidity, it remains one of the most memorable occasions i've ever had behind the lens. I hope the following photos give you an idea of just how good the day was...
