Maree & Daniel | Vaucluse House
People often ask me, as a photographer, what my favourite part of the wedding day is. My answer is always the same...the portrait shoot.
Not only because I get to chase down amazing light at stunning venues and photograph beautiful people in it, but because it gives the couple a chance to stop, chat, and reflect on their day; it's one of the craziest and most wonderful days of people's lives, and it's one that needs to be remembered - not just in photos.
Maree and I agreed at the start of her wedding day that at some point during the hours that followed I would give her a couple of minutes to stop and soak it all in. So shortly after the ceremony I had Russ, my second photographer, take the bridal party away for some photos, while I photographed Maree standing in a patch of beautiful light, taking a moment to reflect, relax, and absorb what was truly one of the most wonderful celebrations of her life with Daniel so far.
The photo of this moment is the first one below... and it's moments like these that make me pinch myself and think "This is why I do what I do". I feel so lucky every time I get to be a part of them.
Maree and Daniel were married at Vaucluse House in Sydney's Eastern Suburbs, and then followed up their nuptials with an amazing party at Deckhouse Woolwich, with floral styling throughout the day curated by Clementine Posy. A special thanks goes to Russell Quinn for second shooting.
